Keeping things moving

With over two decades of experience in supply chain, Lee Garlick plays a critical role in ensuring the right products are available at the right time. As a Supply Planner at Blueleaf, he balances demand forecasts, stock levels and supplier lead times to keep operations running smoothly and customers supported. 

Joining Blueleaf two years ago, Lee quickly immersed himself in the business, building an understanding of systems, suppliers and stock management. Early challenges, particularly around unexpected demand spikes and supplier delays, provided valuable learning opportunities. Over time, he has developed a more proactive approach, using data more effectively and strengthening collaboration across teams to anticipate and manage risk. 

A key achievement came early on, when backorders across key product lines were increasing. By reviewing high-impact suppliers, validating demand planning and working closely with partners to bring forward deliveries, Lee helped stabilise stock levels. The result was a significant reduction in backorders and improved product availability - bringing them down to their lowest levels to date. 

While much of Lee’s development has come through hands-on experience, strong support from his manager has been instrumental. What stands out most to Lee is the culture at Blueleaf: fast-paced and demanding but underpinned by a supportive team environment where people work together to solve challenges.
