Care UK partners with Blueleaf Care to champion sustainable housekeeping across 163 care homes
Blueleaf Care is proud to support Care UK in becoming the UK’s largest care home provider to fully embrace plant-based, eco-friendly cleaning solutions in its daily operations.
Since March 2023, Care UK has been transitioning to our n-kind cleaning range across all 163 of its care homes. The rollout reflects Care UK’s serious commitment to environmental responsibility — and highlights how innovation in cleaning can support both sustainability and high standards of care.

The homes are now using two core n-kind products: elimin8,an 8-in-1 antiviral and antibacterial disinfectant with a powerful 30-secondcontact time, and clean15, a 15-in-1 cleaner and deodoriser suitable for everything from bathrooms to soft furnishings. Both formulas are 100%plant-based and biodegradable — and they’re supplied in recycled plastic bottles, reducing plastic waste across Care UK’s portfolio.
Jon Bicknell, Food and Hotel Services Director at Care UK, said: “Care UK is dedicated to making meaningful changes when it comes to sustainability. In addition to working towards carbon neutrality by2040, we know that there are smaller changes we can make to make a difference and ensure we are acting as responsible corporate citizens.
“By partnering with Blueleaf Care and introducing n-kind, we’re not only improving our environmental impact – we’re setting a new benchmark for what sustainable housekeeping in care looks like.”

Ellen Brown, Sales and Marketing Director at Blueleaf Care, said: “n-kind is redefining what’s possible. We don’t see sustainability as a checklist item – it’s an opportunity to rethink how we work, to care for people, places, and the planet better than ever before. It isn’t just about delivering products; it’s about delivering a new standard for how care environments can work smarter, safer, and more sustainably."
Care UK’s environmental credentials continue to grow. In 2024, the provider gained official accreditation for the high standards they used to measure corporate greenhouse gas emissions. This an important milestone on its journey to reducing carbon emissions and achieving net zero by 2040.
Across its homes, initiatives such as appointing Sustainability Champions, investing £1 million in LED lighting, and diverting over 99% of general waste from landfill reflect a culture of action — not just ambition.
The provider has also launched forward-thinking campaigns such as Generations of Change, encouraging intergenerational learning about the environment — and introduced workplace benefits including an electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme for field staff.
Blueleaf Care is proud to be working in partnership with Care UK to help bring about meaningful change through everyday actions. By integrating the n-kind range into their daily housekeeping routines, Care UK is setting a powerful example of how sustainability and high-quality care can go hand in hand. We’re thrilled to be supporting them on this journey and look forward to continuing our collaboration as they lead the way in sustainable care.
