What does the home offer?
Nazareth House offers care for up to 63 residents, including respite, palliative and dementia care.
What was the challenge?
The home set out to update its facilities and wanted a design scheme that would reflect its ethos and that would be implemented with minimal disruption.
What difference did Blueleaf make?
Blueleaf worked with the home from initial design concepts through to fit out and installation on a project which has transformed how individual bedrooms and communal spaces can be used and enjoyed.
With an in-depth understanding of how the use of colour, fabric, flooring, lighting and layout is instrumental in supporting residents and their wellbeing, Blueleaf created a design that would enhance the space and provide a better environment for care.
Every detail of project installation was managed by Blueleaf so that the rolling refurbishment would be implemented without causing disruption to residents or staff.
Design that creates a difference
From the moment residents or visitors enter the new reception lobby in Nazareth House, it is clear that this is a home dedicated to providing care in a setting which is warm, tranquil and welcoming.
Through a blend of carefully selected patterns, choice of colour and bespoke joinery, the design harmonises the home’s spiritual heritage with its commitment to the highest standards of modern care.
The reception desk pays homage to Gothic Christian architecture, with carved pointed arches reflecting the structure of a vaulted roof along its ribs. The desk is set in a serene space, created using a willow pattern design wallpaper and faux limestone flooring.
This soft palette contrasts well with the furniture and chair upholsteries to create clear lines between the surfaces to assist with navigation for residents living with a visual impairment.
A bold accent colour of turquoise brings the scheme up to date making it feel contemporary, the feature lights over the reception area also achieve this more up to date aesthetic.
This careful combination of features which are practical as well as aesthetically pleasing is also evident in the designs for bedrooms at Nazareth House.
Each room offers furniture, specialist beds and finshing touches which enhance independent living, allow staff to care with ease and which prove welcoming to visitors.
The right result
The upgrade at Nazareth House was completed on budget and on time and has delighted residents and staff alike.
Blueleaf’s close attention to detail and care expertise allowed the team at Nazareth House to realise the changes they hoped to see, and we will soon undertake a new project for the Sisters of Nazareth at another of their care homes.
